How to download your Xcel Energy bill
To enroll you in community solar, we need a copy of your most recent Xcel Energy bill as a PDF. The good news: Xcel Energy keeps a PDF of every bill in your My Account online profile, and downloading one takes about five minutes. This guide walks you through it click by click.

Before you start, have this handy
- Your Xcel Energy My Account email and password
- If you don't have an online account yet: your Xcel Energy account number from any paper bill, so you can register
- A computer, tablet, or phone with a web browser
The steps

Go to the Xcel Energy sign-in page
Use the button below to open Xcel Energy's My Account sign-in page in a new tab. You can also get there by visiting xcelenergy.com and clicking "Sign In" at the top of the page. Heads up: Xcel serves several states, so the address may change to your state's version of the site (for Minnesota it starts with mn.my.xcelenergy.com) — that's normal, you're in the right place.
Don't have an online account yet? Click "Sign Up" on the sign-in page. You'll need your Xcel Energy account number, your last name, and your ZIP code exactly as they appear on any paper bill. - 2
Sign in to My Account
Enter the email address associated with your account in the "Email" field and your password in the "Password" field, then sign in.
- Forgot which email you used? It's the one Xcel Energy sends your bill notifications to.
- Forgot your password? Click "Forgot password?" and Xcel Energy will walk you through resetting it.
If Xcel Energy asks for a one-time verification code, it will arrive by text or email — enter it when prompted and you're in. - 3
Open your bill history
Once you're signed in, you'll land on your account overview. Open the "Billing" section and look for your list of past bills — Xcel Energy keeps a PDF of each one in your bill history. On a phone, tap the menu icon (☰) first to see these options.

Download your most recent bill
Your bills are listed by date, newest first. Open the most recent one — it displays as a PDF — then click the download icon (usually an arrow pointing down, near the top of the PDF viewer) and save the file somewhere you can find it again. On a computer, check your Downloads folder; on a phone, use the share/save option to put it in your Files app.
We need the actual PDF with every page included. Photos or screenshots of your bill won't work with our automatic reader. - 5
Upload it to SolarGator
You're done with Xcel Energy! Head back to SolarGator and upload the PDF you just saved. We'll automatically read your account details from the bill — including your account number and premises number — no typing required.

I don't have an Xcel Energy online account
Registering is free and takes a couple of minutes. You'll need your Xcel Energy account number, your last name, and your ZIP code exactly as they appear on any paper bill.

Your sign-in email is the one Xcel Energy sends bill notifications to. For a forgotten password, click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page and Xcel Energy will send a reset link to your email on file.

Xcel Energy serves several states and sends Minnesota customers to the Minnesota version of its site. As long as the address ends in xcelenergy.com, you're on the real site.
The bill opened but I can't find a download button
Every browser can save an open PDF: press Ctrl+S on Windows or Cmd+S on a Mac. You can also use Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.
I only have a paper bill
You can turn it into a PDF with your phone: on iPhone, open the Notes app, tap the camera icon, and choose Scan Documents; on Android, the Google Drive app has a Scan button. Make sure you scan every page of the bill into a single PDF.
