How to download your Potomac Edison bill

To enroll you in community solar, we need a copy of your most recent Potomac Edison bill as a PDF. The good news: Potomac Edison keeps a PDF of every bill in your online account, and downloading one takes about five minutes. This guide walks you through it click by click.

Before you start, have this handy

  • If you don't have an online account yet: your Potomac Edison account number from any paper bill, so you can register
  • A computer, tablet, or phone with a web browser

The steps

    Go to the Potomac Edison log-in page

    Use the button below to open the log-in page in a new tab, then click the "Log In" button on that page. Heads up: Potomac Edison is part of FirstEnergy, so the website address will say firstenergycorp.com — that's normal, you're in the right place.

    Don't have an online account yet? Click "Register" on that page instead. You'll need your Potomac Edison account number, which is printed at the top of any paper bill.

    Sign in to your account

    Enter your username in the "Username" field and your password in the "Password" field, then click Log In. Note that Potomac Edison asks for a username, not your email address.

    • Forgot your username? Click "Forgot Username?" under the log-in form.
    • Forgot your password? Click "Forgot Password?" and Potomac Edison will walk you through resetting it.
    If you've set up multi-factor authentication, Potomac Edison will send you a one-time code by text or email — enter it when prompted and you're in.

    Open your billing history

    Once you're signed in, you'll land on your My Account dashboard. In the row of shortcuts near the top of the page, click "Billing & Payment History".

    Shortcut: you can also go straight to firstenergycorp.com/my_account/bill_payment_history.html — if you're not signed in yet, it will ask you to log in first and then take you right there.

    Download your most recent bill

    Your bills are listed by date, newest first. In the "View Bill" column, click "Download" next to the most recent bill. The PDF saves to your device — on a computer, check your Downloads folder; on a phone, use the share/save option to put it in your Files app.

    We need the actual PDF with every page included. Photos or screenshots of your bill won't work with our automatic reader.

    Upload it to SolarGator

    You're done with Potomac Edison! Head back to SolarGator and upload the PDF you just saved. We'll automatically read your account details from the bill — no typing required.

The bill opened in my browser instead of downloading

No problem — with the bill open, press Ctrl+S on Windows or Cmd+S on a Mac to save it as a PDF. You can also use Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.

I only have a paper bill

You can turn it into a PDF with your phone: on iPhone, open the Notes app, tap the camera icon, and choose Scan Documents; on Android, the Google Drive app has a Scan button. Make sure you scan every page of the bill into a single PDF.
